Today (15), the National People’s Power Energy Forum launched the policy document titled “Energizing the National Renaissance” at the Marriott Hotel in Colombo. The event was attended by a number of academics and professionals in the energy sector, including Professor Mohan Munasinghe, the first Sri Lankan Nobel Laureate.
Following the welcome address, Professor Udayanga Hemapala presented on “People-Centered Energy Transition”. Subsequently, Pubudu Niroshan Hedigallage, an entrepreneur and expert in electricity transmission and distribution, and a member of the NPP Energy Committee, formally launched the energy policy. During the event, Professor Mohan Munasinghe symbolically handed over the energy policy to Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Professor Munasinghe also delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of the policy document and wished the NPP success in crafting a visionary energy policy.
The event also featured a panel discussion with Dr. Thilak Siyambalapitiya, Professor Udayanga Hemapala, Engineer Pubudu Niroshan, Dr. Mayura Neththikumara, and Dr. Thushara Rathnayake. Following the panel discussion, NPP’s presidential candidate, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the NPP’s commitment to making the energy sector a shining example under the party’s governance.
Engineer Pubudu Niroshan, a member of the NPP Energy Committee, highlighted that NPP’s plans for new energy will benefit the public.
