This morning (16th), The Presidential Candidate of NPP, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, had a meeting with the Chief Incumbent of the Ramanna Nikaya, Most Venerable Makulewe Vimala Thero, at the Mirigama Kandangamuwa Sri Vidyavasa Piriven Maha Viharaya. Today (15), the National People’s Power Energy Forum launched the policy document titled “Energizing the National Renaissance” at the Marriott Hotel in Colombo. The event was attended by a number of academics and professionals in the energy sector, including Professor Mohan Munasinghe, the first Sri Lankan Nobel Laureate.
Following the welcome address, Professor Udayanga Hemapala presented on “People-Centered Energy Transition”. Subsequently, Pubudu Niroshan Hedigallage, an entrepreneur and expert in electricity transmission and distribution, and a member of the NPP Energy Committee, formally launched the energy policy. During the event, Professor Mohan Munasinghe symbolically handed over the energy policy to Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Professor Munasinghe also delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of the policy document and wished the NPP success in crafting a visionary energy policy.
The event also featured a panel discussion with Dr. Thilak Siyambalapitiya, Professor Udayanga Hemapala, Engineer Pubudu Niroshan, Dr. Mayura Neththikumara, and Dr. Thushara Rathnayake. Following the panel discussion, NPP’s presidential candidate, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the NPP’s commitment to making the energy sector a shining example under the party’s governance.
Engineer Pubudu Niroshan, a member of the NPP Energy Committee, highlighted that NPP’s plans for new energy will benefit the public.

Today (15th) morning, comrade Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the leader of the National People’s Power, submitted his nomination papers at the Election Secretariat for the presidential election scheduled for September 21
The event was attended by Dr. Nihal Abeysinghe, the General Secretary of the NPP, and Sunil Watagala, a National Executive Committee member and lawyer.
After submitting the nomination papers, Anura Kumara Dissanayake was warmly welcomed by the gathered supporters outside the Election Secretariat.

The IT Professionals’ Summit of NPP was successfully held on 13th August 2024 under the theme DoIT5.0 at Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo. A large crown from different dimensions of IT sector participated for the event including DevOps Advisor and NPP ICT Committee member Ms. Randima Somathilaka, the CEO of ‘Roda’ Mr. Eyas Fazul, Former Director of John Keels Research Dr. Muditha Senarath Yapa and NHMRC Australia Research Associate Dr. Rajith Vidanarachchi were at the spotlight. The discussions revolved around how the IT professionals can contribute towards NPP Digital policy and its content.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayake highlighted the fact that even if we preach about Digital Technology, our country is still in Dirty Politics.
The gathering also included Dr. Nalinda Jayatisse – NPP ExCo member, Mr. Chathuranga Abeysinghe – NPP ExCo member, Eng. Eranga Weeraratne – NPP ExCo member, and Eng. A press conference was held this morning (13th) at the headquarters of the National People’s Power, with the participation of its leader, Anura Kumara Dissanayake. During the conference, Dissanayake stated that he and his team are committed to standing against the existing ugly and corrupt political culture. He further expressed that the NPP has a capable and honest team that is accepted in the villages and can serve the country. He also mentioned that the NPP has already released several policy statements and that the NPP has reached more than 50% of households in Sri Lanka.
