An NPP public meeting was held this evening (06) in Diyakada Kahathuduwa, with a large participation of local residents.
Addressing the gathering, Samantha Vidyarathne, National Executive Committee Member of the National People’s Power, stated, “Enough with forming governments for others. Now, it’s time for the people to form their own government.”

Major General Aruna Jayasekara, playwright Prasannajith Abeysuriya, and lecturer Sunil Derangala, all members of the National Executive Committee of the National People’s Power, also shared their views at the event.

A meeting between the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) and the leader of the National People’s Power, Comrade Anura Kumara Dissanayake, was held this afternoon (06) at the JVP Head Office.

The issued faced by doctors in Sri Lanka and the proposals of the association to change those conditions were presented to the National People’s Power.

Dr. Nihal Abeysinghe, General Secretary of the National People’s Power and National Executive Committee Member Prof. Krishantha Abeysena were also present for this meeting with the President of the Government Medical Officers Association and the board of officers.

Depositing of money for Comrade Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is running as a candidate of the National People’s Power for the presidential election to be held on September 21, took place this morning (06) at the Election Commission in Rajagiriya.

General Secretary Dr Nihal Abeysinghe, National Executive Committee Member Vijitha Herath, National Executive Committee Member Harini Amarasuriya, National Executive Committee Member Maulvi Munir Mulaffar, National Executive Committee Member Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, National Executive Committee Member Mahinda Ratnayake, National Executive Committee Member Vraie Cally Balthazar, National Executive Committee Member Eranga Gunasekara, President’s Counsel Upul Kumaraperuma, Lawyer Sunil Vatagala, the National Executive Committee Member of the Socialist Youth Union, Sadish Selvaraj and others were present for this occasion on behalf of the National People’s Power.

MP Dr Harini Amarasuriya, MP Vijitha Herath, Maulvi Munir Mulaffar and Sadish Selvaraj spoke to the media at the premises.

MP Harini Amarasuriya said that the time has come to appoint a leader who can elevate the country to a civilized position.

MP Vijitha Herath said that the people are ready to hand over the country to Anura.

The national conference of the Retired Tri-forces Collective of the National People’s Power was held today (04) at the P.D. Sirisena Stadium in Maligawatta with the participation of over 20,000 people. The rally was broadcast live on social media, and over 20,000 viewed the event online.

Mr Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the leader of the National People’s Power, gave the keynote speech at the Aditana National Conference and emphasized that only the NPP can turn politics into a profession that is accountable to the people.

National executive member of National People’s Power, lawyer Harshana Nanayakkara, Olympic medalist in target shooting and retired commissioned officer Pushpamali Ramanayake, former Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha, and former commander of the Eastern Province Major General Aruna Jayasekara also spoke at the event.

The national policy and programme of the National People’s Power for people with disabilities, ‘Ekwa Athanohera,’ was launched this evening (03), headed by the leader of the National People’s Power, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, at the Sri Lanka Foundation.

Social activist Sugath Wasantha de Silva, Director of the Education Center for Hearing Impaired Children, Honorable Greta Nawalabedda Sister, literarian Thakshila Wickramaarachchi representing the hearing impaired community, Subhani Udeshika, social activist for the physically challenged community, D.M. Thilakaratne, social activist for the community with intellectual development disabilities, spoke at the occasion on behalf of the disabled in various fields. They also showcased their skills and talents by performing dances and songs on stage.

Delivering the main speech, National People’s Power leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that when he observes the situation, he is reminded of how unkind and unjust our society is. He further assured, ‘The trust you place in us will not be damaged by even a speck of dust.’

The conference began at 10:00 a.m. today (02) at the P. D. Sirisena Grounds in Maligawatta, Colombo. Approximately 15,000 teachers from across the country attended the conference, which was held under the theme ‘A Renaissance – A New Era – A Teachers’ Power: The Grand National Teachers’ Conference’.

Addressing the conference, Mr Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the leader of the National People’s Power, stated that he and the National People’s Power would allocate more than 4% of the budget to education upon coming to power, with a stage-by-stage implementation that will begin in the first budget. He further emphasized that the history of education in this country dates back to the arrival of Mihindu Thero and that without the teachers who provided maternal and paternal love to the children, he would not be where he is today.

National Executive Member of National People’s Power, President of Trade Union Federation K.D. Lalkantha, Vishaka Abeyratne, Vice President of the Ceylon Teachers Service Union, and Mahinda Jayasinghe, General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Service Union also spoke at the conference.
