National People’s Power held a victory rally at Ambalantota today (12). Consequently, the meeting grounds were filled with a large crowd.
The welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Vipula Vijedasa, Convenor of the National People’s Power Ambalanthota Divisional Division, former Ambalanthota Divisional Council member, and retired Deputy Principal. A media conference of the Retired Tri-Forces Collective of the National People’s Power was held this morning (7) at the main office of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna in Pelawatta, Battaramulla. Present at the event were National Executive Committee member of the NPP, Ananda Wijepala; Head of the Retired Tri-Forces Collective, Retired Major General Aruna Jayasekara; and Member of the Main Operations Committee of the ‘Aditana’ Collective, Retired Navy Commodore Senaka Hanwella.
During the event, Ananda Wijepala urged the public not to fall for the cowardly propaganda being circulated in desperation as they face loss of power.
Retired Major General Aruna Jayasekara emphasized that conspiratorial propaganda cannot sway public opinion.
Retired Navy Commodore Senaka Hanwella stated that the members of the ‘Aditana’ collective operate with discipline and a mature understanding of politics.

The leader of the National People’s Power, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, participated today (7) in the victorious rally of the National People’s Power titled “Rata Anurata” held in Maradankadawala. The people of the area gathered in large numbers, showing strong support for the expected outstanding victory in the 2024 Presidential Election, aimed at creating a “prosperous country – beautiful lives.”
Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the presidential candidate of the National People’s Power, stated that the faith placed in them by the people will be fully honored after the 21st.
Further expressing his views, he stated, “First, we will dissolve the parliament. Next, according to the constitution, we will govern the country well for about 1½ to 2 months until the general election. After winning the presidential election and going for the general election, we will sweep in votes just like how water rushes into the Kala Wewa spillway. By then, over 150 members of this parliament will be at home. It’s not only Ranil who will be defeated by this vote. Even S.M. Chandrasena and the will be defeated. We will form a government with a 2/3 majority. That is certain. After that, we will appoint heads to government institutions. This vote will also revoke unauthorized appointments given to the sons, daughters, and relatives of politicians. The vote of the 21st of September is going to be that powerful.”

During the event, National Executive Committee member, Wasantha Samarasinghe, invited the people to join a new political renaissance instead of lingering in old dead-ends.

The policy primarily focused on the environmental threats facing Sri Lanka, including addressing climate change, the human-elephant conflict, forest system protection, and kidney diseases caused by environmental factors.
The main speaker, NPP presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake, stated that the NPP would prevent environmental destruction by transforming environmentalists’ plans into government policies.
