1, How soon are you going to appoint organizers (prospective candidates to general elections) to electorates? People are used to prevailing electoral system and they need to get used to a sound leadership for each electorate. This has to be done in advance, as there is no time for building the leadership once a general election is declared. From all other parties there are known characters to the ordinary man. For NPP we find only district level leaders. Divisional committees or organizing various sections alone is not adequate. Appoint very dynamic leaders for electorates in consultation of village committees. This is necessary even to organize presidential elections from the peoples point of view. 2, How soon are you going to make people aware your shadow cabinet? This is not required for other parties as there are known people. To win the confidence of the people NPP must identify and make people aware of about 25 persons well qualified for the cabinet. Or at least a pool of resource persons.
Thank you for your inquiry . We have introduced NPP Kottasa Sabhas in the grassroot level considering the GS divisions . Then we have formed electoral sabhas where we introduced a leadership panel for the electoral division . Then we have a district level organization. In all these, we have identified around 150 leaders for each district. They will come to limelight once elections are declared . Regards
What is NPP going to do if/when there are street protests by IUSF, medical students, sarasavi students etc? will you just let these students protest on the street or will you stop the protest using police?
Thank you for your question. Freedom of expression is a fundamental right. We as a government will always ensure that right to speak is preserved . If students protest , there should be a reason . We will attend their grievances and will facilitate those at the earliest possible time frame. When the problems are resolved not only students but also any other protesters . Regards
We've known JVP as a party dedicated to socialism. Some part of the socialism paradigm may say that people who earns more than usual should always share it with less fortunate. I don't believe that particular scenario is acceptable anymore in any society. And I've heard that JVP has moved from the socialism and that socialism does not suit well for the nowadays generation and they became NPP. By any chance, can you be so sure that we wouldn't see that kind of socialist acts when NPP made their government, and how. Thank you.
Thank you for your question. Many people in Sri Lanka don't know what Capitalism , Socialism , or Liberalism are. They know only a few things uttered by various individuals . It is like a blind man describes an elephant. There is no pure socialism or capitalism anywhere in the world today. Look at China, Vietnam , Cuba or any other country . You have private investment , private property , and what not . Similarly you have social welfare in the UK , USA, Australia sometimes more than you find those in the so called socialist countries . Look at the economy in vietnam . Their GDP is 408 billion USD in 2022 and 433 billion in 2023. They are socialist countries. In the UK education is free. Health is free. People above sixty can travel free of charge in public transport . Therefore people in Sri Lanka have හුඹස් බිය on socialism . Above all , what has capitalism done to Sri Lanka ? Bankrupt country . I proposed to create sticker which can be paste in cars to support NPP. the sticker should be in English language and easily removable. we like to paste such NPP stickers on cars to wishing NPP.
