Thank you and we certainly do many community work on days or events of significance. Our regional organizations , cooperatives mainly engage in such activities . This is a suggestion regarding your education policy. Please feel free to disregard it if you find it irrelevant or not applicable. I believe it's worth considering and sharing with the public during meetings to educate them about futuristic education frameworks. As you are aware, STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) has become a central aspect of modern education frameworks. It's not just about preparing students for future job opportunities, but it's also essential for equipping them with the skills necessary to thrive in a world where advanced technologies are increasingly integrated into our daily lives. Given the rapid advancement of technology, it's crucial that everyone has a sufficient understanding of STEM concepts. This knowledge will empower individuals to navigate and leverage emerging technologies effectively. While I understand the need for brevity, I am enthusiastic about contributing further if given the opportunity. Nonetheless, I have confidence in your team's ability to execute your plans effectively. This suggestion comes from someone who wishes you every success.

  1. 1. Have you mechanism in place already even before coming into power - to serve the people - to allow any person ask questions and have it answered?
  2. 2. Will you change the medium of instruction in government schools to English. Or at least have you in your vision to do so.

Admin

Thank you for your inquiry . 1. Yes, you have come through the proper channel to post your questions for which our subject specialists answer. If you have any specific question , we can direct you to the relevant team. 2. The medium of instruction will be available in both languages, and the children/parents can decide which language they should choose from. The government is responsible for facilitation and it is accountable to the delivery. Therefore which language the child does his studies is not compulsory. However , UNICEF and other learning theorists believe that the first language of the child is ideal for primary education. Regards

I want to ask further questions regarding NPP economic policies, so as to create awareness amongst those who arbitrarily condemn NPP without knowing the facts. Although many policy principles have been articulated at meetings and Youtube videos, many do not have the time for that. Hence, I believe this is a quick way to direct those people interested to read NPP ideas. In your previous response it was clarified that creating COMPETITION, providing DATA and CAPITAL (where required) are some of the fundamental NPP principles. 1) If a person has the capital and data and they want to get into the manufacturing industry for example, will NPP have a SYSTEM where one can apply to set up their business without connections (or bribes) to anyone including politicians and Government officials? 2) If a person has the data but short of CAPITAL, will NPP have a system like in Singapore and China with new Development Banks that will provide low cost loans? 3) Cost of energy is very high and a huge hurdle for businesses to be competitive. Will a NPP govt be open to competition in the power generation sector? 4) NPP is said to prefer a 'mixed services and production economy' to increase GDP. What services other than tourism (value adding) human capital export (more skilled less unskilled) shipping/ harbour services are you looking at? 5) Does NPP intend to tap into the International IT market in collaboration with India which has a $133B market for IT? 6)What sort of incentives will be offered for businesses to be located to the provinces away from Colombo? 7) Regarding FDI, what sort of businesses should be attracted to come to SL?

Thank you for your long list of questions . Here are the answers .

  1. 1.Yes , there will be a Single Window which will attend investor needs. Investors need not go to various ministers/ministries or departments or local authorities and waste time . Approvals can be given within 48 hrs if the source of funding and the amount of funds are declared because all other infrastructure development is the responsiblity of the investment authority .
  2. 2.Loans are available provided the compliancs are dully met.
  3. 3.There will be concessions for electricity /energy consumption by industries that contribute to the GDP .
  4. 4.There are many . When it comes to sectors that contribute to GDP are agriculture , industry and services . In agriculture ,the contribution to GDP is 8% . However 30% of population is in the agriculture . Our plan is to increase the contribution from 8% to 10% in the first 3 yrs in power. We bring in technology to agriculture and new plantation methodology to export agriculture . Value addition is a major part. When it comes to Services there is a big potential in the IT sector. Now the contribution to GDP is 1.2 billion USD which can be easily increased to 5 billion USD . Their tax brackets need amendments and other infrastructure such as skilled labour, internet cost etc need to be reduced in order to sustain the industry . Marine services and the industry connected to that are more potential areas for development which NPP will look into.
  5. 5.I have answered for this question .
  6. 6.Land, energy concessions , tax holidays , acce to rapid transport , skilled labour , etc.
  7. 7.FDIs are attracted to manufacturing , hotel industry , and other potential services that generate employment , introduces new technology etc.
  8. Regards
