I listened to a 6 minute video clip of Dr Nalinda Jayatissa regarding the repurcussions of handing over issuance of Visas to a foreign company. I do agree with him. However, how many of us would be wandering how useful it would be for RAW, to gather information about Sri Lankans and hundreds and thousands of foreigners who visit Sri Lanka. Can you imagine the magnitude of the data base they would develop. Scary ain’t it? I’m sure they are/were doing it Good luck and Best Wishes Lalith Gunaratna (USA)

I'm curious if you have a general data protection policy, similar to GDPR in the UK, or if there are plans to update any existing policies related to data protection.

Thank you and as you have rightly said data protection has been an issue though an act was passed about two years ago . They have not developed the procedures yet. There are issues in the law passed . We have identified the flaws in many such important laws and they will be rectified . We may plug the loopholes in our law so that it will be more secure than GDPR. Regards

We as senior citizens face with many financial problems as the banks provide very less amount of interest for fixed deposits initiated by EPF money received. Earlier the fixed deposits of senior citizens were given some what higher interest rate which has been stopped by the present government. Have NPP identified this as a problem and how you are going to rectify the situation?

Thank you for your question . We have identified the issue with regard to the low interest payment for deposits of senior citizens. In an NPP government , more than restoring or paying more , it is the responsibility of the government to provide sufficient safety net for senior citizens.
