All of us know that we have a very poor public transport system and I understand you have plans to revamp the entire system to facilitate with a good transport system. There are over 113,000 buses operating in Sri Lanka and except a very few buses running on the express ways and used by tour operators, all the others are very uncomfortable buses with “ Lorry Chassis “. Both government and private buses are of the same quality. Hence, do you have a plan to replace them with “ Real buses “ gradually and stop importing so called “ Lorry buses “.
Thank you for your inquiry . The CTB Operates around 5000 buses and about 20000 private buses. As you have rightly stated, the service is not available to the level of expectation . Under an NPP government, the public transport system will be developed to the highest level while investing in railways. Regards

Sir how will you support the local automobile industry, like mass production, and selling our vehicles globally?
Thank you for your inquiry. We have a handful of companies in Sri Lanka assembling vehicles. There is another company that has produced an electric car which is quite similar to tesla brand . What is lacking in this country is the government doesn't encourage such entrepreneurs . An NPP government will provide all necessary support to such industries which are prepared to enter the global supply chain. Regards
