In my opinion, waste management is a grave problem in our country. Will you take steps to introduce a fining system to be applicable to the people who do not dispose waste properly? (Those who do not sort out waste material as organic matter, glass, polythene, etc. and follow the given instructions to dispose them.) I think the government can get an income while keeping the country clean if you introduce such a system to impose fines.

NPP leaders are proposing/promising various system changes and some of them are politically highly attractive. For example, scrapping benefits of the politicians including retired presidents and MPs. My question is whether these changes could be done with simple majority in the parliament. If they require 2/3rd majority, you would not be able to do so in case 2/3rd majority is not available. As everyone aware of, obtaining it is a very difficult task given the present electoral system. What is your view on this as people will lose faith in you if the promises are not fulfilled like others. (You can’t expect the support from other political parties for these type of changes.)
Thank you for your inquiry . We wish to tell you that we are for scrapping all undue privileges enjoyed by politicians. Also , we need to tell you that not all amendments need 2/3 majority in the parliament . However , if the people give such power , the amendments would be easier . Nevertheless , an NPP government would definitely bring in a new constitution that reflects the interests of all communities in Sri Lanka and will ensure that the rule of law is preserved in the country.
